Dear Expectant Parent:
We understand that this is a very difficult decision you are facing and we respect you for considering adoption as an alternative. We are very sympathetic to you and we would like to tell you about ourselves.
We were married in 2002 and do not have children yet. We turned to adoption due to medical issues for Dannette which would cause pregnancy and delivery to be dangerous to her health.
Adam is an electrician and Dannette is an executive assistant with the Federal Government. We will both take time off after the adoption, then upon returning to work we plan to provide excellent daycare services for our child. We also have both sets of retired grandparents nearby to help when necessary.
Our home is a large brick colonial on a rural acre of land outside one of Maryland’s small towns. The area around us has a horse farm where the sound of the horses can be heard and we have a beautiful view of rolling hills. We have two black and white tuxedo cats. Our home has a large in ground pool in the backyard where we hold many family gatherings, including our annual July 4th party. We have a large open field on the side of our house for children to play.
We like to travel around the country and explore places we haven’t been before. Adam does video work and has a natural eye for film and photography. We have lots of digital pictures from our travels and have made several photo albums. Dannette loves crafts such as scrap booking, cross-stitching and stamping. Adam is a huge sports fan and now so is Dannette. The past four years we have bowled in a league and are the reigning champions. We enjoy going to all kinds of sporting events and camping locally with family and friends. We are looking forward to continuing this with our children.
Adam has learned many lessons about humility, kindness and selflessness from his older brother who is mentally retarded. Adam feels he has a great deal of experience in caring for someone other than himself. Dannette is the middle of three daughters. Her sisters are both married and the eldest has twins. We are very close to our niece and nephew. We also have experience helping our niece meet the challenges she faces as a non-verbal and physically delayed child. Dannette’s family is large with lots of aunts, uncles and cousins. We both share strong family values and are independent.
Our goal in life is to complete our family nucleus with children and raise them and help them grow to the best of their ability. We feel that we can love and cherish a child who joins our family by adoption just as we would a child who was born to us.
We have been approved to adopt by a Maryland adoption agency. To find out more about us or if you just need someone to talk to you can contact our counselor Yetisha at 410-659-4050. Or if you would like to speak to us directly, please call us at 443-320-5069.
We are open to meetings and updates. Since we like to take pictures we are expecting to take thousands of pictures of our adopted child and would be willing to share them with his/her birthparents throughout our child’s life. We look forward to the opportunity to meet you.
